I was working on a thought that this was a good lead-in for: about what I see as an overarching phenomenon that encompasses the whore-madonna complex, moms in the workplace and a bunch of other particular dynamics: a persistent refusal to see women as whole, multifaceted people; an insistence that a woman with many sides of herself is somehow failing at all of them, while we expect and encourage men to be complete and well-rounded people.
